Khreshatyk

Mallory and I had three days off of teaching, so on Wednesday (May 2nd) we spent the day at Khreshatyk, the city center. We walked around a lot, got lunch, and did a lot people watching. It was a very nice, easy going day. And like always, we saw some interesting things there!

A very nice park (compared to all others we've seen) where we hung out for a little while

This is definitely the nicest part of Kyiv!

Designer stores . . .

This does not give an accurate picture of what Ukraine is like

This is Maidan Nezolezhnosti, which means Independence Square

St. Michael's Cathedral (not really Khreshatyk anymore)
Outside of St. Michael's
Also outside of St. Michael's

Back at Maidan Nezolezhnosti

Another bandura player

We also saw these break dancers . . . They really cracked me up because I think the US and Ukraine must have very different standard on what good break dancing looks like! In the beginning it was just sad, but after a while they got a little bit better.
