| Baobab trees are supposedly the thickest trees in the world, but not this one obviously . . . |

| Bamboo, which we learned is a type of grass and that is grows very fast |
We went to the Botanical Gardens on February 4th. I was expecting to see flowers, but it was all trees and plants. I loved it though! It was originally built in 1839 and has 8,000 species of plants. There was a lady giving us a tour and then our school coordinator would translate everything she said into English. The ceiling is 33 meters tall in the green house area because palm trees can grow up to 30 meters tall and they can't be cut because they only have one point of growth, which is at the top. It is set up by different areas of the world, so there is an area where all the plants are from North America, and another where they'e all from Australia, etc. We learned so many interesting things about lots of different plants. Some of the trees are more than 150 years old and there are even some from the original collection from 1839!
