Our Neighborhood

I posted pictures of our neighborhood and our walk to school in the winter, but I thought it might also be good to post pictures of how it looks now, in the spring time.

This house is two houses away from our house

There is the house in between

Our house

The front door

This house is right across the street, in front of our house

There are walls or gates around all the houses

Our street, Baklazhanna

I think this little house is used as a shed, but it's very pretty! We pass it on our walk to school

If people run out of money when building something,  it just sits there unfinished

It's pretty common to just have unfinished buildings like this

This is the entrance to our street, gate 12

This is right outside the gate (to the left)

We pass this store on the way to school too

This is another thing we pass, it is actually our host family's church

I guess all of these pictures are things we pass on the way to school : )

All the bottoms of the trees are painted white like this, but I'm not sure why

This is our favorite post office where all the workers know us so well

Natural History Museum

On May 12th Mallory and I went to the Natural History Museum with some other ILP teachers. Unfortunately, nothing was in English, but it was fun to look! There were A LOT of stuffed animals there! It was interesting though. I thought it was fun, but I think the pictures give a better description than words.

I'm not confident that this animal really existed . . .

And especially not this one . . .  This one has to be a joke.

This one is pretty weird too

A kitten with two heads : (  I'm almost didn't post this one because it's sad and yucky

Hedgehogs! Ukraine's favorite animal!

There was a HUGE glass case of animals that were stuffed!

If you paid an extra $5 US, you could see live animals and one of them was a two-headed turtle!  Buuuut still not worth it to me. Maybe if it had three heads . . .

The building is being renovated and repainted, so half of the entrance is blue and pretty and the other half is grey and not so pretty
