Budapest

This is the world's largest hour glass - it turns every year

I think this is a statue of the first historian in Budapest (from what I understood) and people touch his pen and make a wish.

Budapest surprised me more than the other cities that we went to. For some reason I expected Hungary to be more like Ukraine or Romania, not that I don't like those places, but they're definitely not as nice in comparison to these other places we went. Hungary was very, very nice and very pretty! It was just as nice as Austria. I didn't expect that at first, but I then I realized that I guess it makes sense because historically they have been one country. The whole tour that we went on (all three cities) was in Russian and there were seven of us ILP volunteers, but luckily there were some teenagers there that spoke some English, so they were able to translate some things for us, but they were trying to enjoy their vacation too so we didn't want them to constantly have to being worrying about translating for us. So basically, we didn't understand a lot. I wish I knew what these places were, but I still need to look them up online. I have a couple travel books on Prague, so I was able to figure out what most things were there, but Budapest was a different story.
